Public Safety Building Committee

Purpose

The Public Safety Building Committee is responsible for developing a plan to develop, finance, and construct a new public safety building in Hubbardston, MA, which will house police, fire, and emergency medical services. This facility will provide adequate space and resources for these departments to operate efficiently. The Public Safety Building Committee's goal is to provide advice on the construction of a safe, practical, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective police and fire building. 

Membership

The committee shall consist of seven members appointed by the Hubbardston Select Board, including 

  • A Representative of the Select Board
  • A Representative of the Finance Committee 
  • Three (3) Members of the community at-large
  • The Fire Chief or his designee
  • The Police Chief or his designee

Responsibilities

The committee shall be responsible for the following:

Develop a plan for the feasibility, design, construction, and financing of a new public safety building, including potential sites and square footage.

Conduct public outreach to communicate project needs/requirements, designs, and costs, and solicit feedback.

Ensure the needs of the community are satisfied and that the building design is both practical and visually acceptable.

Collaborate with town officials, citizens, and other stakeholders.

Collaborate with the town's financial staff to find financing options and create a project budget.

 Ensure that the project is on schedule, under budget, and in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations.

Report regularly to the Select Board and the town's residents on the progress of the project.
